Embracing Filipino Culture

Bangka 2018

Bangka is a traditional Filipino fisherman’s boat. Natives who live by the ocean, build their own boats to catch fish. This was a way for them to earn a living, either to sell their catch or feed their family. As time becomes more modern, Filipinos have added motors to their boats, making it easier to travel distances on the water.

Ang Pakiramdam ng Tahanan I, II, II

In translation: The feeling of home.

The feeling of home mugs were inspired by the design of Japanese Imari porcelain and my late grandpas traditional Filipino Barong (a formal sheer textile shirt).

The design and bold colors of the Japanese Imari were fascinating to me, especially with the repeated pattern throughout ceramic. It inspired me to created my own style embracing my Filipino culture.
